On Deriving the Quasi-Minimal Residual Method.

Abstract

A new derivation of the quasi-minimal residual (QMR) method for the solution of a system of linear equations is presented. This derivation differs from the original one in solving a particular least-squares problem by applying simple recurrences rather than computing a QR decomposition by means of Givens rotations.
