Abstract

Algorithmic differentiation (AD), also known as automatic differentiation, is a technology for automatically augmenting computer programs with statements for the computation of derivatives. The Eighth International Conference on Algorithmic Differentiation 2024 (AD 2024) was held from September 16–19, 2024 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. It is the latest in a series of scientific events that began in the early 1990s and whose regular 4-year cycle was seriously disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic.
